Ready, set, write! This writing contest takes place entirely at the convention starting Thursday at 11:00am and ends Saturday at 8:00pm. Participants must write a 250-word short story based on a mystery prompt that is posted in the GPS Room Party and Connie's Quantum Sandbox, who will also be providing table space for writers to work at. Entries will be judged after the contest closes and the winners will be posted Sunday morning at 10:00am at the GPS Charity Auction (Hyatt 2, Greenway Ballroom A). First, second, and third will receive $25, $15, and $10 Amazon gift cards, respectively. Entry forms are available at the GPS Charity Auction and Connie’s Quantum Sandbox (Hyatt 4, Great Lakes B); drop boxes are also available at both locations for submissions. If your entry form does not include an address, you will need to pick up your prize Sunday at the GPS Charity Auction before close.
Rules- Only one submission per participant (which must include their badge number).
- All entries must be original works of fiction.
- All entries must be written during the contest timeline.
- All entries must involve the mystery prompt item in a clearly recognizable way.
- All entries must be exactly 250 words (hyphenated words or phrases count as multiple words).
- All entries must not exceed a PG-13 rating.
- All entries must be legible.
